Lincolnshire ICB reassures Spilsby patients following closure of surgery
An important update has been shared for patients registered at a recently closed surgery. On Tuesday, September 30, it was announced that the Spilsby Surgery site was temporarily closed with immediate effect after its GP partners were no longer able to provide care to patients. All patients registered at the practice will instead receive care by the Lincolnshire and District Medical Services on a temporary basis, as appointed by NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board. This comes after the GP partners at Spilsby Surgery had their Care Quality Commission registration removed. An update with important information for patients has since been shared. An update from the Lincolnshire ICB states that it is “fully committed to ensure Spilsby Surgery patients are provided full GP services as soon as possible and are making positive progress to ensure patients receive this as soon as possible.” It explained that LADMS has access to the surgery’s clinical systems and are prioritising repeat prescriptions, blood test results, and death certificates. However, patients are asked to not contact the LADMS office directly at this time, as it is in the process of setting up its systems and processes. The Spilsby Surgery premises will remain temporarily closed, and patients are asked to not attend the surgery as no services are currently being delivered from there. If you already have an appointment booked this will be rescheduled, and you should wait for LADMS to contact you. If you have an urgent health need you should visit a local pharmacy, call NHS 11 or in an emergency call 999. At the moment no medication can be dispensed at Spilsby Surgery, but this is hoped to be reinstated as soon as possible. The ICB would also like to “reassure” patients that they remain registered with Spilsby Surgery, and should not register elsewhere as full GP services will become available again very soon. It adds: “We understand this may feel unsettling, but please be assured your care will continue, your records are secure, and you will be kept fully informed about next steps. “We apologies for any inconvenience this has caused and would ask that you please be kind to staff who are working during this difficult time.” The Co-op Pharmacy in Spilsby is currently dealing with a high number of emergency medication requests. Patients are being asked to only request repeat medication from NHS 111 if you urgently need it. If you are due to have a blood test you should wait to be contacted. The LADMS team is also working hard to ensure the flu clinics at the surgery on Saturday, October 4, can still go ahead so please attend your appointment as planned unless told otherwise.
