A1 Great North Road in Lincolnshire blocked after crash involving car and lorry
A main road is reportedly blocked following a ‘serious’ collision involving a car and a lorry, with ‘severe’ delays expected in the area. The A1 Great North Road southbound is blocked between Grantham and Little Ponton, with images from the scene showing a fire engine and an air ambulance in attendance. The incident was first reported by Inrix at around 3pm on Sunday (October 5), which says congestion is building to the Harlaxton/Melton Mowbray turn off. A spokesperson for the traffic monitoring service said: “The A1 Great North Road southbound, from B1174 to B6403, is blocked. “Congestion is building to just after the Harlaxton/Melton Mowbray turn off. This is due to a serious accident involving a car and a lorry. Severe delays are expected in the area.” Traffic maps provided by Google show a long line of congestion along the route, as well as further congestion on the A1 between the A52 and A607 turn offs. An air ambulance has also been spotted nearby. This is a breaking news story and we will be adding regular updates to our live blog below:
