
Spate of mobility scooter thefts sparks warning from Lincolnshire Police
Officers are investigating a number of mobility scooter thefts and attempted thefts in Lincoln. Lincolnshire Police is urging those with mobility scooters to make sure their property is locked and secure following the recent spate of incidents in the Moorland area of the city. A red Roadmaster Plus mobility scooter was stolen from the front garden of a property on Turner Avenue. The chain securing the scooter was cut at some point after 8pm on Friday, October 3. A mobility scooter was taken from outside a property on Cotman Road on the same night. This theft was particularly devastating for the owner, who will now struggle to get out and about to fetch supplies. The third reported incident is of an attempted theft of a scooter on Westwick Drive. On this occasion three people dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas tried to steal a mobility scooter before an alarm was set off. They then fled the scene. All of the incidents are reported to have taken place overnight from the Friday to Saturday, October 4. In a separate incident, a red Honda motorbike was also stolen from outside the Ruston Sports and Social Club on Newark Road in Lincoln. This happened between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Monday, September 29.
