Princess Kate with subtle nod to Prince William in statement suit on visit to East Midlands RAF base
The Princess of Wales opted for a modern look as she visited Lincolnshire on Thursday, October 2. Her Royal Highness visited RAF Coningsby for the first time, during which she learned more about the site and the people who keep it running. During the visit, the Princess wore a stylish outfit centred around a grey power suit. The plaid blazer and matching trousers are from Bella Freud, a London-based company and were in the ‘Prince of Wales Check’ style – a nod to her husband Prince William. The jacket is currently listed online for £875, whereas the trousers should be £525 but are currently 50 per cent off at £262.50. Kate has worn this stylish suit on previous occasions, which has a number of statement buttons on the chest and cuffs.

For those seeking a similar look but without the steep price tag, the ASOS DESIGN tailored double-breasted relaxed blazer suit in mono check is a brilliant alternative and is available for £70. Similar to Kate’s co-ord, ASOS offers matching wide leg trousers in mono check. For those willing to spend a bit more, Jaeger’s British Wool Tweed Blazer is available on Marks and Spencer for £199. On the day of the visit to Lincolnshire, Kate paired the suit with a grey-blue top, possibly a nod to the Royal Air Force, which uses similar colours in its uniforms and logo. It was spotted that the lining of the suit was also a light blue colour. The Princess, who became the became Royal Honorary Air Commodore in August 2023, was also wearing a pair of navy blue stilettos with a neutral outsole. It was difficult to see exactly which ones, but they are believed to be Gianvito Rossi heels, which she has worn on previous occasions and have a cost of around £650. Comparable alternatives include Next’s navy Friends Like These Faux Suede Court Shoes, which are available for £34 and come in both standard and wide fit.
