New digital app for Spalding will help tackle footfall decline, business group says
A business group in Spalding says a new digital app will help tackle a decline in footfall in the town. Spalding Business Improvement District (BID) is developing a new app for the town which will provide information on local businesses and events. At a Spalding Town Forum meeting on September 30, Spalding BID manager Sarah Fletcher said the board is currently developing the app, which will be available to download soon. She said: “It will enable the board to better report the work it’s doing and provide an opportunity for us to network with businesses. “The new app will enable all local businesses to promote what they do and market themselves. It will advertise local services and will be hugely important in helping people find out more about the town.” Ms Fletcher went on to say that the board hopes the new app will help to make up for the decline in footfall in the town centre by offering new delivery options for businesses. She added: “One of the things that many businesses lose out on is online shopping. “The app starts to bridge the gap in the loss of shopping and it allows some businesses to offer click and collect options for their customers.” Spalding BID is working on a series of projects aimed at improving the town. The business group is funded by a mandatory levy for all town traders to fund these projects.
